Asian dunker

Has anyone heard of Darren Ng?

Chinese guy, final year medical student, used to play for the 36ers – hey, that’s similar to my profile, isn’t it?

Anyway, after our match on Thursday, I watched a bit of the following match that featured Darren’s brother, Ashley Ng (the similarities continue…). It was a low standard D grade match but this guy was obviously a good player. At one stage, he went on a fast break into an open court, an effortlessly DUNKED the ball! Now it’s not common to see people dunk the ball but especially a Chinese guy, around my height, playing domestic basketball!

Fed Square Soccer

I only caught the second half at Fed Square with Al and Lish last night.

(This entire post was done from my phone)

What would be a soccer match without flares?

TGIF VI

I had nothing else for this week’s TGIF post so I dug back through some old photos. What started out as a nice quiet night…didn’t take long before it turned into the usual p!ss-up.

Goooaaalll!

It’s official – with the 2006 FIFA World Cup just around the corner, football fever has taken over Melbourne. No, not THAT code of football. I’m talking the world game. While a lot of one-eyed Australian Rules fans may not like the intrusion of this other code of football, they may be surprised to know that some of the men in charge have ties to both codes.

It starts tonight with a friendly between Australia and Greece at the MCG. I’ve checked everywhere, locally and internationally, and the bookies are giving better odds for Australia to win with the most likely score being 1-0. This comes as a bit of a surprise, given that Greece are the Euro 2004 champions. I suppose there’s a lot to be said for local crowd support, even though there will be a LOT of local Greek supporters at the game tonight who won’t know who to cheer for.

To those actually going to Germany for the World Cup, stay safe and keep away from the nutcases. Take photos, particularly if there are any standout sights.

Car crash

More car accident photos.

My car was parked on the side of the road when a bogan reversed into it. He then drove off.

Fortunately, his partner/girlfriend lived next door to Ash in Numurkah so he wasn’t hard to track down.
