Anyone want to buy carpet?
We have finally had our floorboards installed downstairs 2 weeks ago after removing tiles and carpet. As such, we had a large piece of carpet that doesn’t fit anywhere in our small townhouse!
Any takers???
Got this in email this morning.
These are not trick questions. They are straight questions with straight answers.
1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.
2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?
4. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?
5. In many liquor stores, you can buy pear brandy, with a real pear inside the bottle. The pear is whole and ripe, and the bottle is genuine; it hasn’t been cut in any way. How did the pear get inside the bottle?
6. Only three words in standard English begin with the letters ” dw” and they are all common words. Name two of them.
7. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?
8. Name the only vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.
9. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter “S.”
Just a quick report on something that’s non bike related….
Played a round of golf sunday morning with 4 other jokers at a golf club to be unnamed due to some anti-social golf cart behaviour… more on that later.
Nice day…
Stats are:
1. Approximately 550 odd shots and putts taken by 5 people for 18 holes… For non-golfers that just means we are not very good at golf.
2. 1 sore leg and 1 sore shoulder/head.
3. Almost falling out of the cart a few times.
4. Skid marks on most of the course.
5. Sand all over the inside roof of one golf cart due to point 6.
and
6. 2 out 3 golf carts rolling on it’s side - 1 tipping quickly and 1 going over matrix style with driver hanging out the side trying to keep it from tipping.
I know… no pictures.. It was a scramble to get the carts upright before anyone arrives to witness the anti-social behaviour.
Too bad it doesn’t cool your drink
And you’d think twice about drinking from it directly…
There was a a big accident in the Burnley tunnel this morning at around 10am. I’m not exactly sure what happened but I think a truck crunched into slower moving traffic. Several vehicles caught on fire and exploded. So far three people confirmed dead.
Add to that a major gas leak somewhere in Malvern which halted train services on several lines and some delivery truck catching on fire in Taylors Lake. The FINA World Championships are on at the moment plus there’s the airshow out at Avalon. Makes Melbourne look a lot busier than it usually is.
Check the usual news websites for updates and photos.
Following on Norm’s footsteps, I’m organising Entertainment Books ‘for’ our Soccer Club. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll put one aside from you. It will be the same deal as last year - cost price.
I can’t wait till they get these flying between LHR and MEL… I hate long flights.
“While the double-decker A380, which has a wingspan almost as large as a football field, can carry 850 passengers, Qantas is likely to reconfigure the plane to seat just 500 to give extra space to customers.”

I know I’m trying to get more non-cycling posts here, but I just had to post this one which I found on on aus.bicycle.
ISM Adamo road saddle
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, I guess. There’s obviously a reason behind the shape. As for carbon-fibre saddles, that’s just beyond me.
