Nikon D80

Posted by DJ on 26th September 2007 in Toys

So I’ve bought a new digital SLR.

My compact Pentax 750Z is a good camera but has a few problems. Main problem is its difficulty focusing in low light … even though the light may not be that low! It really struggles to focus when indoors with an incandescent light and results in blurry, out-of-focus pictures. Outdoors, it is an excellent camera producing beautiful pictures.

The time had come to buy a digital SLR. We’re going to New York at the end of next week and so it was the perfect time to make this duty-free purchase. I’ve played with the Nikon D80 before and found it very nice to use and produces good pictures. Reviews of this camera found it to be excellent.

So, I’ll see how it fares when we take it to the Big Apple.

By the way, we’re planning to watch New York Knicks vs the brand new Boston Celtics exhibition match. That’ll be good! Time to use the zoom lens…

You know your fridge needs defrosting when…

I took the liberty of defrosting the household fridge today (actually, it was more like an archaeological expedition through the Antarctic).

Free plug for the London Freewheel

Posted by Geek on 7th September 2007 in Cycling| London

I’m quite impressed with the number of people that I know who are now doing this…

London Freewheel - “London is buzzing today with the news that, for one remarkable day, many of the capital’s roads will be completely traffic-free and open only to cyclists.

On Sunday 23 September, London goes traffic-freeAll Londoners – from mums on shoppers to old folks on rusty relics – will be coming from far and wide to ride down the city’s most famous roads, seeing sights like London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge.”

I think the marketing is a bit overdone, but still, some of the roads around London’s famous landmarks are going to be closed so it sounds like a good day for ‘easing’ back into cycling. Well, that’s what I was thinking when I signed up 2 weeks ago. I mentioned it to Hay, he said sign him up as well and now he’s manage to convince around 6 other ppl (including Anh, GIN, Jase & Marg) to hop on a bike and cruise around.

Now my only issue is, I have to go buy a bike
