Equation

COLD AIR + YARRA BOULEVARD "HILLS" + CURRENT FITNESS = BURNING LUNGS

Where’s Stig?

If you’re completely bored at work, this might entertain you for a few minutes…

Yet another “back on the bike” post!

Arm wamers. Check

Gloves. Check

Sunglasses. Check.

Pump. Check.

It’s been two months and one day since my last ride on 19 July so I was a bit out of practice with the pre-ride routine. The arthritis flare-up has finally settled down a bit and I felt like I was able to get on the bike this weekend. Still need the anti-inflammatory medication to keep things under control at the moment but at least the joint pain isn’t being aggravated with just a bit of exercise.

I headed out late morning for Yarra Boulevard,Richmond. There was a slight wind but otherwise weather was good. It was SUCH a relief to be able to turn the pedals over again and feel the lungs opening up. A little unfit but not as bad I thought it would be.

HYG called after just one lap and we decided to do a bit of Yarra Trail. The track was a bit muddy in some bits but it was good to be able to get back on the mountain bike. The reactions were a little slow but I haven’t lost too much in the way of “skillz”. As usual, it wouldn’t be a mountain bike ride if someone (me) didn’t have a little lie down – not once, but three times. At least they were all low-speed crashes.

All up, 15km on the road bike in the morning on the road bike then 20km on the mountain bike in the afternoon. Not much, but it’s a start.

Insincere apologies

So right after Serena Williams screams at the line judge that she would “shove this [expletive] ball down your [expletive] throat” because of a bad call, she comes up with this:

“I wanted to offer my sincere apologies to anyone that I may have offended.”

That just smacks of insincerity.

Update: Serena has “amended” her original apology. Linky
