YPR #56 Norm’s “buck’s day” ride

Posted by HPG on 12th October 2009 in Cycling| YPR

So since Norm effectively canned any idea of having a buck’s night before his wedding next week, YPR #56 was effectively his “buck’s day” ride. We kicked off from Keith’s place just before 8am for a cruisy ride down Beach Road, with half a mind to go to Frankston if we had time. That didn’t eventuate though and we turned around at Mordialloc, with a short stop at Packer Park for a few weak attempts at hitting 50km/h.

Maybe if Norm got his Cervelo SLC-SL with Zipp 404s, he might be able to do it. Mrs. Geek, first anniversary present suggestion. ;)

La Marmotte, 4th July 2009

La Marmotte is regarded as one of the world’s toughest non-competitive amateur cycling events held in the French alps in early July every year. The course is 174km long, climbing over the famous mountains of Col du Glandon, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Glabier and finally finishing at the ski resort of Alp D’huez. Over 7000 people take on this challenge every year. Here’s my attempt at this epic challenge…

The long road ahead
