2010 Calendar

So, new year, new challenges to tackle.

On the agenda is my first triathlon, just a small one though: Eton SuperSprint – 400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.

But the big one, and probably only one for the year: Amstel Gold Cyclosportive – 250km. I managed to register 4 minutes after it opened. (With a few intermittent crashes in between).

Tourversion Amstel Gold Race full in recordtime
18 / 01 / 2010

Sint Geertruid – The popularity of the Tourversion Amstel Gold Race has taken immense proportions. The registration of the tour cycling classic, that will take place on 17 april, with start and finish in Valkenburg, is entirely full since this afternoon. Within barely 40 minutes after the digital registration via the website www.amstelgoldrace.nl opened, the maximum number of 12.000 tour cyclists has been reached. An unrivalled success.

This means that the registration has been fully booked and the entire pack is complete three month prior to the event. Last year the maximum of 12.000 participants was reached very fast. Then the organizers had to close the registration within 30 hours. This year the registration opened at 12 o’clock and in no less than 40 minutes the maximum number was reached. Something that never happened before in a recreational sporting event in the Netherlands.”

Tasty…

Work

Okay, so after two days of working in the city I thought I’d make the trek into my normal office, which is located about 30km out of central London.

I really felt like I should be strapping on a snowboard….

Snow at work

Oh, and here’s the other photo I took earlier yesterday too. No possibility of bushfires happening here….

Geek – 5147km
Keith – 5145km
HP – 2263km
Tuong – 157km

YJOM Dec
HY – 503km
HP – 398km
Keith – 345km
Geek – 265km

Stage wins
Keith – 5
HY – 4
Geek – 3

Well, that’s a wrap for 2009. GC honours go to HY. Despite no massive riding months, HY managed to win with steady and consistent riding throughout the whole year. 2nd-place goes to Geek, with some strategic riding, to pip me at the finish line by 2km. But also, he also put in some massive training months during the European summer. Special mention to HP, who started to put in some decent mileage in the latter half of the year. And a strong finish for 2009 with a 2nd-place YJOM for Dec, thanks to some big solo rides.
