Memories Le Tour 2010
Well, another tour’s almost over. It’s probably about the 5th one I’ve watched now since someone explained to me how there’s more to the eye than just a bunch of lycra-clad athletes riding through the pretty French counrtyside (the helicopter views still continues to help keep me glued to my seat though I’ll admit).
So what will be my most memorable moment? All the crashes in the early stages? Lance riding his last tour? The epic duel between Contador/Andy and the dropped chain incident? No, it will be this…

That man is just a a legend. I now think he ranks in my books ahead of Lance. Who cares if he’s won 7 TdF titles and overcome testicular cancer? Riding a kiddies bike to catch up with the gruppetto after he’s been sacrificing everything for his team these past 3 weeks just says so much about character. And plus he just seems like a more friendly and down to earth guy to me. Anyway, anyone who talks to his body has to be a friendly chap…
A close second memorable moment would be Robbie pulling his trademark wheelie after climbing the Toumalet.

Actually, I have enormous respect for anyone that can pull a wheelie – period. Robbie did also have my favourite moment in the tour 3 years ago when he came back from a crash 20km out to win the stage.
