YPR #67 Birthday Ride

I’ll let Keith write this one up as I rocked up extremely late due to feeding responsibilities and a last minute nappy change. I didn’t catch up with those guys until the Mordy Cafe (thanks for the icy pole Keith!). There just weren’t any quick groups to latch on to and I just had to do pretty much all of the hard work on the way down (pooh hoo).

Attendees:
- Keith ‘I have a passout’
- Al ‘Once in a blue moon’ (actually he was doing pretty well… I guess he wasn’t riding with kiddie trailers for once!)
- HY ‘Hoogerland’
- CL

Also bumped into my HK/London friend there who was returning from Mt Martha. Thank goodness I didn’t ride with him that morning!

My favourite ads

I may have posted linkies to this before but these are some of my favourite ads from the UK which aren’t aired here.

So if you ever hear me referring to leopard print underpants, my n!pples talking to me or if I tell you to go ‘com-pear the mar-kat’, you’ll know what I’m going on about….

Oh what a tour

I’ve been fortunate enough to watch most of this year’s tour on TV and in my opinion it has been an especially exciting tour to watch. Aside from the obvious of Cadel being the first Aussie to win, here are some other highlights that I thought made it such a great tour…

  • First Brit to win the green jersey and Cavendish’s flawless lead out train
  • Hushovd winning a mountain stage and the exceptional performance of Garmin Cervelo throughout
  • The World Road Race Champion leading out his team mate for the stage win
  • Andy’s attack and win on the Pinerolo-Galibier stage
  • Cadel clawing back the lead by himself on both the Schleck and Contador breakaways
  • The deliberate side-swiping of Hoogerland and Fletcha by the TV car
  • Voeckler hanging on to the yellow jersey for so long and coming so close to a podium finish for the French
  • Having ridden part of the Galibier-Alp d’Huez stage

And of course, you can’t forget the Paul/Phil quotes – “this is one Schleck sandwich that’s sure to give you indigestion”

Childhood toys

OMG, this is gold – Vintage Japanese toys.

I distinctly remember having played with at least 3 of these (whether I owned them or played with them at someone else’s house I don’t remember).

Golden Warrior Gold Lightan

Iron Man No. 28

Cosmo Vulcan

The really cool thing about the last two is if you press those little red buttons on their arms, their fists fire off! (it’s ‘spring loaded’)
