As per the service status page at AussieHQ, qweop.net’s web server will be undergoing upgrade and relocation at 0900 AEST 23/01/2008. Don’t post anything on that day unless you don’t mind losing it.
I figured I’d finally get around to upgrading Wordpress on this website to version 2. The upgrade has broken a few things so I’ve reverted to the standard theme. In the meantime, you can use this post for your random chats.
HYG and I headed out for a first look at Wombat State Forest Mountain Bike Park. We headed out from my place at 7am to avoid the traffic. There was a little trouble finding the trailhead but we made it eventually. For future reference, the trailhead is 4.1km down Finger Post Road after turning off from Old Calder Highway. Map here. Hmmm… was it cold? Let’s just say there wasn’t going to be any mooning from me on this ride.
Although there has been some recent rain making the track a little tricky, it’s a great course. Tight tricky singletrack but mostly ridable. Worth going back except that’s it’s so far away.
On the way home, we came across this:
On another note, I’m disabling photo uploads to qweop. I’m pretty sure everyone has access to some sort of photo sharing service, whether it’s Yahoo! Photos, Flickr or Photobucket.
Just been going through the website logs and checking search referrer strings. For the non-geeky, there’s information logged everytime you visit a website that tells how you got there. Of particular interest is the information that tells you the page that linked to the one you are visiting, and from this, it is possible to work out search strings that people have been using searching for that turned up your website in their results. Hope that explains it somewhat clearly.
Anyway, these are a few of the more common ones:
masterful brendon road, gvbr bike singlespeed, inexa bikes, mount donna buang, fishing docklands, crucifixion ride, bmc streetfire ssx, north road ride, cleat setup
Here are a few of the weird ones:
assos girl, bling for postie bikes, wife swap melbourne, fat fingers, female croatian supporters in stuttgart, wildman burger, clown bicycle circus pictures, girl cyclist, weird looking stuff, turkey slap
Hmmm…
Hey Mr Admin,
Can we look at something different (better) to upload images? Maybe something like this? Flexible Upload or ImageManager. I’ve just basically been looking through some of these WP Plugins (haven’t got through them all though).
We need something that can upload multiply pics easily….
Cheers,
Geek
As per the AussieHQ service advisory here, the server that qweop.net is on will be upgraded at some point on 16/07/2007. Anything you post on that day may be lost permanently.
Checking to see if I can submit a new post.
You would have to be pretty blind not to notice the new features and layout on qweop. I’ve changed some fonts to make it a bit easier to read, moved the city weather boxes to the top along with…wait for it…. LOCAL TIME IN EACH CITY! It doesn’t doesn’t continuously update, just the local time when you load the page, and it doesn’t automatically take into account daylight saving.
The other obvious new feature is the live chat box which should cut down on those hundreds of one-liner emails we send. The chat box is not archived anywhere as it’s not attached to any post. Ahn is the second Londonder to discover it, but she was on this morning when no-one was at work yet. I think the best time to catch anyone would be mid-morning London time which is evening Melbourne time.
Feel free to make any suggestions. I may or may not do anything about it, but suggest anyway.
Well, this site was put together to keep us in touch but for the most part I think I use it just to ramble on about cycling and avoid doing any work
Anyway HP thanks for bankrolling this nonetheless…. BTW do we have a backup yet still??
Let’s hope to hear more from everyone (about ANYTHING) in the coming year…
It didn’t take long for the geeks around here to notice that qweop.net went down today. The hosting company had scheduled some software upgrades on the servers and encountered some “issues”. As a result, qweop.net was down for about 12 hours and just came back online at 11:30pm. The service status page indicates that the upgrade was not successful so they have rolled everything back. Presumably they will try again in the next few days or weeks.
Imagine if my servers at work went offline for 12 hours - I’d be toast.
